History and Literature - Living Stories
We work with museums and cultural institutions around the UK to bring stories to life
The Court of Versailles at the V&A
Oh Mon dieu, it is so vile, madame s'il vous plaît return your feet to the floor! We do not step... we glide!
On April the 29th 2016, the French monarchy was overthrown at the Victoria and Albert Museum. As part of Late Night Library Club's Baroque to the Future, Big Ben Theatre Company took over the renaissance gallery and transformed it into the Palace of Versailles, complete with Marie Antoinette, outrageous accents and bloodthirsty revolutionaries!
Ambulance Train
A man lives in a kind of feverish nightmare, through which rumbles unceasingly innumerable wheels moving by jars and jolts.
Ambulance Train at the National Railway Museum in York is the product of collaboration between the museum, Nissen Richards and Big Ben's Director Ben Borowiecki. On display from summer 2016, it's a fascinating interactive journey into one of the forgotten stories of WWI.
The Picture of Dorian Gray
She wept silently, and made no answer, but crept nearer. Her little hands stretched blindly out, and
appeared to be seeking for him. He turned on his heel, and left the room.
Our first collaboration with the extraordinary Late Night Library Club. Big Ben Theatre staged an extract of Oscar Wilde's novel in the middle of a celebration of his work.
When Tabitha, the mousey actress entered the room for a dramatic reading of 'The Picture of Dorian Gray', her audience had no idea what madness would ensue as the characters of the book began to invade and disrupt the evening. The audience experienced Sybil's heartbreak first hand as Tabitha gave her heart to a handsome stranger, only for it to be cast back at her with contempt.
